Group 868 Inc. is a boutique multi-designer sales agency that was started in 2007 by Iván Meza and Mindy Woon. We offer everything from full-service sales, merchandising, and marketing support to short term consulting services.
Group 868 was started to fulfill a need for small companies to have sales, merchandising, and marketing representation but are not able to open their own showroom by professionals who understand the markets in the Americas.
We work with Bridal and Evening companies with Bridal being our focus to prepare their collections to enter the American market. Along with the wholesale, Group 868 Inc. started The Sample Room NY, a retail store selling samples off the rack, for several reasons. Any discontinued samples can be sold in The Sample Room NY to assist in offsetting fees incurred. The Sample Room NY is also treated as a laboratory to give valuable feedback in sales, design interest, fit and trend projection.

When Iván while at Pronovias Mindy while at Bergdorf Goodman met, they knew they had a connection and similar ideas of what the Bridal business needed. They came together with different and complimenting skills and Group 868 Inc. was born.
Iván Meza
Iván graduated from Boston College. He started his career completing two department store executive training programs with Allied Department Stores and JC Penny. He started in tabletop and moved into Bridal because of his understanding of textiles since his father was a weaver. Along with his department store experience, he has worked for many well-known companies like Lladro and Pronovias. Iván has worked in Bridal for almost 25 years. Iván realized his true calling of Sales and Marketing when he was at Pronovias handling VIP clients and working with the high-end lines. Iván is bilingual and bicultural, which adds to his ability to connect with people from all parts of the industry. With Iván’s comprehensive experience with retail sales and stores, he understands what a buyer needs and expects for maximum sales. He always strives to find better and more cutting-edge ideas to bring Bridal into the future while never sacrificing the heart of the business.

Mindy Woon
Mindy has always wanted to go into the fashion business from a young age because her family’s business was in manufacturing. Mindy graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in Apparel Design. She started working in the garment industry doing various jobs and can say she has done every job in the garment industry eventually landing in retail sales. She has been in the Bridal business for over 25 years. She started at Bergdorf Goodman as a buyer and manager of the Bridal Salon for 9 years pulling the bridal salon out of obscurity. Mindy has always been passionate about style and taste. With her design background and extensive high-end buying experience she has been able to help many designers hone their vision into a marketable commercial collection emphasizing fashion as well as value always with an eye to what is the next trend.

The Sample Room NY
Group 868 Inc. opened The Sample Room NY to help our clients sell off their discontinued dresses directly to the bride customer. The Sample Room NY has grown from a once-a-week business to a full-time business. We realized there was a tremendous need from Brides who don’t want to or don’t have time to go the traditional route of special ordering a dress. All dresses are consignment based that we get directly from the Designer or other stores.

The Sample Room NY is an economical and environmentally friendly concept that many brides these days want to stand behind. We sell first samples, overstock, discontinued gowns for less than the retail depending on style, condition, and original retail. We never sell previously owned or used bridal gowns from Brides. Not only do we sell the samples for our clients, but we as well gain valuable knowledge of trends and construction techniques from gowns we carry which we pass on to our clients. The Sample Room NY inventory is carefully curated to what our customer is looking for, bringing fashion, style, and value to the Bride. We carry everything from Oscar de la Renta to Watters. We strive to provide a well-rounded boutique experience including gown and accessories consultation to offering alterations services from our top-notch independent fitters.
